Its shape slightly resembles an old-fashioned telephone cord, and its name derives from "busa", which is a long pin or a long blade of straw—a tool which was historically used to shape the pasta. The best condiments to have with Busiate is hearty pesto (like Pesto Trapanese), or sauces with fresh tomato.
