Tyrrell's Vat 9 Shiraz 2024

Vat 9 Shiraz is sourced from the best parcels of the vintage on the Tyrrell Family Estate. This Vat 9 blend comprises of Shiraz from our Short Flat, NVC, Old Hut and Old Hillside. These vines have an average vine age of 50 years, with the oldest planted in 1921, and are grown in classic Hunter Valley limestone-based soils.

Handpicked and hand sorted in the vineyard in the last week of January, the blocks were all fermented separately in open top vats. The individual wines were then matured in mostly newer French oak casks (2700L) until the Vat 9 blend was assembled in November 2024. The blend was then matured for a further five months before bottling.

Pure, elegant red in colour. Wildly complex aromatics. Rhubarb, saline minerality, lifted florals and cool fruits with a savoury undercurrent. This wine embodies the Tyrrell’s red house style from an excellent Hunter Valley vintage.
